This is my Savoia S.21, it's one of my favorite planes in my fleet. I built it from Dollar Tree foam, it has a 36" WS and AUW of about 22 oz. The Savoia S.21 is a pure piece of fantasy, it never existed in real life. The model is painted and marked as a flying boat of the Royal Swedish Air force in the late 1920s. For the flying surfaces I used Vallejos Game color No 102, Steel grey. Engine is painted in Vallejo Model air No 56, Black grey, struts are Vallejo Model air Black No 57.

During test flights, the S.21 proved extremely difficult to control, and the only pilot who had success with it was Guido Jannello, who had already made an impression at the 1918 Schneider Trophy, in a Savoia S.13. When Jannello fell ill at the time of the 1921 Schneider Trophy race and was unable to pilot it, the S.21 was withdrawn from the race.

The Savoia S.21 is a fictional seaplane fighter that appears in the anime film Porco Rosso, directed by Hayao Miyazaki. In the film, there are two versions of the S.21. The initial version was powered by an Isotta-Fraschini Asso liquid-cooled V-12; the later version mounted a Fiat A.S.2 "Folgore" V-12, with a modified radiator configuration.

Savoia S.21 (Seaplane) My rendition of the Savoia S.21 Seaplane from the film Porco Rosso. I went for accuracy first whilst keeping functionality in mind. It features airbrakes binded to action groups 1 and 2, and both are used when landing. Use the first group for slowing in the approach, and the second to slow down faster once grounded.
